Hotel In Paris Near Louvre
Am travelling to Paris end of Oct and would welcome suggestions on places to visit, hotels, food and transport?
I’m planning a vacation to Paris end of October for 4D3N. I have myself a list of attractions that I plan to see in Paris … Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Champs Elysees, Notre Dame, Arc de Triomphe, Seine River, is there anything else that I can fit into my short trip?
I did some research and have learned that I can buy paris visite pass and museum pass … with that and the extensive public transport system in Paris, do I have sufficient time to go to all those places within those few days?
Also, I would really appreciate some suggestions on affordable but good hotels near the city centre that are close to the metro stations. My budget is 80-120 euros.
Last but not least, I have long heard that French food is very nice, are there any suggestions on where I can find good food? Affordable ones, of course!
Thanks much!!!
Wow! So many questions! I’ll try to answer them:
To visit – You need to visit the city. Paris has very special atmospheres which are different in every district and I consider that the best way to really know the city is to walk it through, turn corners, enter little shops etc. In 4 days you don’t have much time. I lived there for some years and came back several times and I feel still don’t know everything about it.
Louvre will take you more than one day. Possibly you could spend all the four days in it. So I would suggest you to decide first which section of it you want to visit and stick to it. Musée d’Orsay is another beautiful Museum where the most important impressionists works are. The museum in itself is worth the visit. It is a former trein station and is really amazing.
I prefer to rent apartments instead of taking an hotel room when I go to Paris. I found out that the price is more or less the same but the quality is often better and you have the feeling to be really part of the city. I use always the same company to rent apartments in Paris and they always gave me a very good service. Here is the link to their site: http://www.paris-apartment-rent.com/index.html.
Food is great everywhere you go in Paris. I suggest you to avoid take away chinese restaurants and stick to french cuisine. Since you are in Paris you should really experience this. I suggest you a brasserrie at Place des Vosges in the 4th district of Paris which is called Victor Hugo. It is very small and very parisian. The food is good and not too expensive. The environment also is very special.
Have a very good time in Paris!
