Hotels In Paris Best Western

What’s a good hotel in Paris near attractions?

We’re considering a short trip to Paris soon. We’d be there for 4 or 5 nights and I’m looking for suggestions on a hotel. It would have to be affordable but no less than 3 stars. Something along the lines of a Best Western. I’d also like to be in the city, not far from the main attractions.

I always stay at the Hotel Saphir Grenelle. It is a two star (I know you specified 3 star, but give it a chance), very clean, and has recently been renovated with new drapes, bedspreads and flat screen TVs. The rooms are small, but if you are only there for 4 or 5 nights and all you are doing in your room is sleeping, it is a great place. I don’t think there are rooms with bathtubs (showers only), but you could ask. It is not a Best Western, but neither is Paris located in the US. It is a nice little European hotel and very good value for your money.
It is located ten minutes from the Eiffel tower (on foot), at 10, rue du Commerce. You can stay there for five nights for E250 (I just checked, they have a special). Taxi from Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport to the hotel is about E65. I usually take the airporter, but if there are two of you, a taxi is just as cheap.
The hotel is located half a block from the Motte Piquet Grenelle metro stop. You would buy a week long subway pass and have unlimited access.
There is a Monoprix (department store with full grocery store upstairs) on the corner. You can get continental breakfast at the hotel, but I usually go to the bakery/cafe next door where there is more variety (cheaper and more interesting).
There is a huge outdoor market (underneath the above-ground metro line) on Wednesdays and Sundays. Plenty of restaurants and boutiques within walking distance.
This hotel is smack in the middle of a real neighbourhood. The staff are fabulous and helpful. I can’t recommend it highly enough. It is a gem.

questions about a parisian travel experience?

i am 23, i am wanting to go to paris. i haven wanted to for years now. so here is the advice i’m asking: what are hte must see,s do’s for a first time traveller to paris? how long to stay, where? ( cheap remember i’m 23 so without sacrificing quality and putting me in a hostel or pension, how about a hotel under 100 dollars a night?

or how about living iwht ahost family would taht be possible? how about studying french at the sorbonne?

where can you eat cheap in paris ( preferrably under 10 dollars a meal )?

study abroad programs?

i’m thinking this summer, people

merci beaucoup

Rose has more experience than I, but here’s a couple of things. Everyone leaves Paris in August – it’s hot. But if you don’t mind hot, you can probably get a better deal at that time of year. OTOH, more things might be closed.

Visit the Pere Lachaise cemetery in Paris. It’s off the beaten path, it’s lovely and there are lots of famous people buried there.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P%C3%A8re_Lachaise

If you know some French, use it. The French people will be nicer to you if you try to use their language.

I am not an adventurous eater. There were very few restaurants I liked in Paris. The one place I liked was Chez Marianne – and it’s just a sit down sandwich place as I recall and it’s not a touristy place. It’s a locals place. You might visit the restaurant that is famous for Benjamin Franklin having eaten there. I remember it because the bathroom is from a forgotten time. You won’t forget that.

They don’t put ice in anything. I learned how to say, in French, “I know it’s very American, but could I please have a glass of ice.” I was staying at the Le Grand Hotel – which is one of the best. I ordered a Diet Coke with Ice. I got a bucket of ice. They thought I had a headache or a black eye.

You can’t just walk into a restaurant without ordering anything and expect to use the restroom. Using the restroom in Paris involves payment in some fashion. You can either go into a restaurant and order something or you can pay to use the toilets on the street. Some of the big tourist attractions will have public toilets. Don’t expect much.

Good luck. My experience is 14 years old. I LOVED Paris – despite the little inconveniences. There is so much to see that you could easily spend two weeks and not see everything. Choose what you want to see the most and decide how you’re going to do it before you go. A city tour right off the bat might help. It’s just a bus tour around the city and it hits the highlights.

Paris Boutique Hotels, I need suggestions for a stay on the left bank.?

I am going to Paris in July with my girlfriend and would like to stay in a boutique hotel, three or four stars on the left bank. I don’t want to spend more than €300 per night if possible. Anyone has experiences with small designer or contemporary trendy hotels in that area? Please share.
If you could also advise on a romantic restaurant, even if romantic might be suggestive somewhere you felt like you could have popped “The Question”:-)), maybe along the river or on the river? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The Hotel Left Bank St. Germain is what you are looking for. A lovely little 3 star (by the way, the French hotel star rating system only goes to three) http://www.paris-paris.com/hotel_left-bank_saint-germain.php

Right next door is the Cafe Procope which is the oldest restaurant in Paris. It has been serving food in the same location since 1686. http://www.procope.com/

Le coupe chou is also a very cozy place. http://www.lecoupechou.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=17d8ae5ee71ea0e209cf3313d06d8e58

P.S. I am sure that at least one person will suggest the Jules Verne in the Eiffel Tower. For the record, let me say I hate it but here is the website: http://www.lejulesverne-paris.com/

Paris Hotels With Air Conditioning

Need a hotel in Paris for 3 nights post Seine river cruise that has AC (traveling in Aug)?

We are staying a few days in Paris after a cruise and need a hotel, centrally located (1st-4th, 7th-9th), rated at least 3 stars (pas trop cher), with air conditioned rooms, a lift and a no penalty cancellation policy. A tall order, I know, but someone out there must know somewhere!

Hi there!
the hotel Ascot Opera is in the 2nd arrondissement, near-by the 9th. It’s within walking distance with the Opera and the Grands Magasins.
Hotel Palais Bourbon is located between the Invalides and the Orsay museum, in the 7th. It’s a really lovely hotel.
The St-Vincent is a superb hotel in the 7th, maybe over you budget, I don’t know, but the decoration and the rooms are really beautiful, and romantic!
These 3 hotels are equipped with the A/C
